The construction of this cathedral on the site of an older church began in 1833 on the initiative of Metropolitan Veniamin Costachi. The building was finished only in 1887 by architect Alexandru Orπscu in the Baroque style. The paintings are the work of Gheorghe Tπttπrescu. The inauguration of the cathedral was made by King Carol I. Initially placed by Prince Vasile Lupu in the Three HierarchsÆ Church in 1641, the relics of Saint Paraschiva were brought to this cathedral in 1889.
